Following an 13 August 2026 wild boar sighting, staff captured one boar (~1m, ~30kg, male) in a box trap; because another boar may remain in the park, traps stay set for about a week from the 7 September notice, during which some garden paths remain closed, warning signs are posted, and PA announcements continue.
The Toyonaka-Shichihosan forest road to Takaya Shrine closes 28 September to 25 December 2026 for slope reinforcement at five landslide-risk points. The shuttle bus is suspended for the duration; visitors must hike roughly 50 minutes from the lower shrine to reach the sky-view torii viewpoint, and should use only official parking at the lower shrine.
ANA and the Kyushu Tourism Organization are offering discounted flight coupons from Haneda to 11 Kyushu airports for travel 1 November 2026 – 28 February 2027 (bookable 3 August 2026 – 27 February 2027), minimum 2 passengers per booking, covering accommodation throughout the region.

The third edition of Nagasaki's prefecture-wide Denryu (Pokémon) stamp rally runs 27 Aug 2026-28 Feb 2027, sending participants to 15 Pokéfuta manhole covers plus tourism spots across 21 municipalities via a smartphone digital-stamp app, with a raffle for regional products, accommodation vouchers and merchandise.
Landings on Hashima (Gunkanjima / Battleship Island) are suspended after the Dolphin Pier access bridge was damaged by rough seas on 28 August 2026; high waves are expected through 31 August, and landing tours resume only once the pier is assessed and repaired, no firm reopening date given.
Kunisaki City and Toyohata City are jointly refunding up to ¥5,000 in rental-car fees (25 Jul-31 Oct 2026, while budget lasts) to tourists who rent locally, collect stamps at two designated attractions across the two cities, and optionally stay at a designated lodging — a dispersion push toward the Kunisaki Peninsula, a quieter area than Oita's Beppu/Yufuin onsen towns.
Following the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto earthquake, the Japan Tourism Agency reports (updated 7 Aug 2026) that accommodation and tourism facilities across Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima are operating normally, and Fukuoka facilities are generally operating as usual; Kumamoto (the epicenter) status varies by local area and travelers are directed to local tourism association pages for specifics.

Ishikawa's tourism board is running a free shuttle bus between Kanazawa Station's west exit and the National Crafts Museum on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 21 August 2026 to 11 January 2027 (first 15 passengers per trip, no reservation needed), aimed at drawing visitors to the museum and nearby Kenroku-en.
Wakayama's tourism federation lists five active closures across the Kumano Kodō network: Nakahechi (Nejiki-no-Sugi cedar–Shiomi Pass 捻木の杉～潮見峠, trail collapse after heavy rain in June 2026, no alternate route, reopening undetermined; plus the Mandara-no-michi 曼荼羅の道 between Nachi Station and Nachi Taisha, detoured via prefectural road 43), Ohechi (Nitta-hirami-do–Ansashi-hirami Daishi-do 新田平見道～安指平見大師堂, highway construction, through ~April 2027), Kohechi (Obako Pass–Kamigashi-ke ruins 伯母子峠～上西家跡, path collapse since May 2023, passable only via a steep ridge detour), and Kiiji (Kirime-oji–Kirime Station 切目王子～切目駅, bridge-replacement detour through September 2026).
DMO KYOTO and Kyoto Prefectural Police announced joint measures to improve the viewing environment around Gion Matsuri, addressing crowding at float-viewing and parade areas.
