Tokyo’s art-and-view combo — 52F observation deck plus the Mori Art Museum in one ticket, 250m above Roppongi.

Mori Tower is the 238m office tower at the centre of Roppongi Hills. The top-floor combo gives you Tokyo City View (an indoor 52F observation deck) plus the Mori Art Museum (rotating contemporary shows on 53F) on a single ¥2,000 ticket — Tokyo’s best art-and-view value.

What to Expect

Tokyo Tower seen from Mori Tower observation deck at sunset

The 52F deck wraps the building in floor-to-ceiling glass — Tokyo Tower’s red silhouette to the south-east is the postcard shot. Mori Art Museum on 53F runs three rotating shows a year (Yayoi Kusama and Murakami have headlined). The open-air Sky Deck on the 54F roof (+¥500) closes in rain or wind.

Allow 2 hours: 30 min for the deck, 90 min for the museum. Sunset is the best slot — book the 17:00 entry in winter, 18:00 in summer.

Consider This Instead

For a higher, taller view (with no art), Tokyo Skytree in Oshiage gives 350m and 450m decks instead of 250m. For a free panoramic alternative, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku has a free 45F observatory — same Tokyo skyline, no ticket.

Tips

  • Sunset slot is the move. Indoor deck shows the city before lights, then watches them switch on.
  • Sky Deck closes in bad weather. Check on arrival; +¥500 only if open.
  • Combine with teamLab Borderless. 5-minute walk to Azabudai Hills.
  • Mori Art Museum keeps the same hours as the deck. One ticket covers both — don’t buy them separately.

FAQ

Is the Sky Deck worth +¥500?

On a clear day, yes — the 54F open-air rooftop is a different feeling than the indoor deck below. On rain or windy days it closes and the surcharge isn’t charged.

Mori Art Museum exhibitions any good?

Three rotations a year, contemporary, often headliners (Kusama 2022, Murakami 2024). Check the website before going.

Mori Tower or Tokyo Tower?

Mori Tower is taller (250m vs Tokyo Tower’s 150m observation deck), has the museum, and the better skyline view. Tokyo Tower is the iconic red silhouette in your photos — visit the outside, not the inside.
